Erectile dysfunction. Prevalence and associated risk factors

SUMMARY

Objective: To know the prevalence of erectile dysfunction in a basic zone of health of Gandía (Valencia, Spain), as well as the associated risk factors and other characteristics such as the recognition of the problem by the patients and where they make the first consultation.

Methodology: Study made descriptive epidemiologist on a random sample of 250 men of 25-75 years that go to the consultations of the family doctors.

Results and conclusions: Elevated prevalence of erectile dysfunction (41%), related to the age and other diseases. Low degree of awareness of the problem by the affected subjects (22% did not acknowledge to have problems in their sexual relations), which is to be approached from the consultations of Primary Care. 29.5% of the affected subjects had consulted the problem with their family doctor.
