The struggle against sexual exploitation of children: a challenge for the professionals of Sexology
G. Pons-Salvador

SUMMARY

Sexual exploitation of children is a form of sexual abuse considered by many people as a problem only to be found out of our borders. Nevertheless, this problem is also a reality in our country, in spite of the widespread ignorance on the topic. The aim of the present manuscript was to sensitize to the professionals related to the area of Sexology in order to involve them in the protection of the children facing sexual exploitation. The first step of any sensitization is to clarify terms which enable the professionals to have criteria which make it easier for them the detection of these situations. This labor of sensitization constitutes one of the main aims of the National Plan against this problem, both in its first version and in that currently in process. In this sense, the article briefly describes some of the concepts related to this problem.

KEY WORDS

Sexual children exploitation, children pornography and prostitution.
