Approach to female partner of the man with erectile dysfunction
E. Villalva Quintana

SUMMARY

Erectile dysfunction is a health problem that affects the global performance of the couple, making it difficult to develop a sexual relation. Most of the studies on the matter have been carried out from the perspective of the man, being very few those which have focused on the point of view of the woman. Erectile dysfunction often has a bad influence not only on the self-esteem of the man but also on that of the woman, giving rise to negative behaviours which frequently contribute to the deterioration of the relationship. It can also contribute to the appearance or intensification of some feminine sexual dysfunctions. For the management of erectile dysfunction and its therapeutic proposals, we must consider that sex problems belong to both members of the cuople and not to one alone, requiring a bio-psychosocial approach.

KEY WORDS
