Transsexualism and conflict: toward the pursuit of well-being

SUMMARY

The present work describes the protocol of the process of sex change, in transsexual people, that it has bigger acceptance among the different treatment teams and that it is based on the standards proposed by the international association “Harry Benjamin”. Along the exhibition they are defined the descriptive manifestations of the transsexualism, the diagnostic approaches settled down by the scientific community, the associate mental comorbidity, epidemic and etiologic data, psychosocial consequences, prognostic factors and quality of life.
