SUMMARY
In 1997, the Valencia Declaration
of Human Sexual Rights was presented as part of the conclusions
of the 13th World Congress of Sexology, organized in Valencia, Spain.
Two years later, in 1999, this Valencia Declaration was revised
and assumed by the World Association for Sexology (WAS) General
Assembly as Universal Declaration of the Sexual Rights. In 2000,
the OMS took the sexual rights as base for the elaboration of a
document on Promotion of the Sexual Health. In spite of all these
efforts, we still live in a world far from the full attention and
respect to the human sexual rights. Nevertheless, promulgation of
the sexual rights had such impact that stimulates to WAS and its
multiple entities and associated professionals to continue working
to make evident that the sexual rights are also human rights.
KEY WORDS
Human rights; sexuality; sexual behavior; health.
