SUMMARY
Aims:
a)To determine the degree of knowledge and use in the practice of
the recommendations of the Spanish Group Wound Management (GNEAUPP)
about prevention and treatment in the Health Center (HC) from Andalusia.
b) To identify professional and formative factors that influence
this degree of knowledge and practical.
Material and method: Population: 268
HC belonging to the Andalusian Service of Health. Sample: 36 HC
selected randomly. Method: By mail, through a questionnaire about
knowledge and assistance practice Variables: Professional data,
16 preventive interventions and 21 treatment interventions. An index
of knowledge and an index of practical starting from 24 key interventions
they are built. Analysis: Descriptive, by means of frequencies and
percentages. Student T and variance analysis.
Results: 163 valid questionnaires were
obtained (37,3%). The 93,8%, are nursing registers with more than
20 years of experience 34,4%. The 88,9% affirms to have received
specific formation on pressure ulcers and 23,9% has participated
in some investigation on the topic. The index of knowledge of the
guidelines of the GNEAUPP is 80,9% (CI 95%= 79,4-82,4), and the
index of the practical assistance it is 75,9% (CI 95%= 74,3-77,5),
with a difference to 5,2 points between both (p< 0,00001). They
affect of the index of the knowledge the HC (p= 0,001); qualifications
(p= 0,009). They affect to the index of the practical, the qualifications
(p= 0,0008); the professional experience (p= 0,002); the formation
about pressure ulcers (p= 0,04) and the investigation participation
(p= 0,04).
Conclusions: The degree of global knowledge
of the GNEAUPP recommendations among nurses professionals from Andalusia
is high, but these recommendations are used in the practice with
much less frequency, in spite of being known. Efforts should be
made to increase the implementation of these practices. No has been
evidenced differences in the degree of the knowledge attributable
to the formation received.
