Care’s plan: the acute confusional state

SUMMARY

  The acute confusional state (SCA) or delirium is a multifactorial etiology pathology that very is habitual in the elderly patients and one of the most frequent complications.

  Their appearance increases the morbidity and the mortality, it lengthens the hospital stay and in a high percentage it will be the precursor of dementia; these are sufficiently important reasons to detect it and to treat it from the first symptom.

  Next to the impotence, that they let us believe that we don’t know how to act to this patients the necessity arises of looking for a possible solution: the elaboration of a plan of cares based on the diagnoses of the NANDA and the pattern of V. Henderson.

  For the diagnosis of SCA I have been using the scale CAM.

  I have been realize traverse and descriptive study, including the 75 year-old grown-ups entered in the service of Geriatrics and of Orthopedics of the General Hospital of Granollers, previous application of the exclusion approaches.
