SUMMARY
Descriptive and relational
study whose purpose was to know how the nurses of the hospitals
asses the risk of developing pressure sore in the hospitalized old
patients, what tools they use to asses this risk and how influences
this assessment the care planning that prevent the pressure sore
in two clinic hospital of the 8th Region in Chile.
The study was focused on the whole group of nurses in
charge of hospitalized adults in both health institutions, 140 nurses.
The period of time was fall 2001 (April -June).
The statistic program used for data processing was SPSS/PC
8.0.
The study showed that most nurses care old patient.
Only 1/3 of the old hospitalized was assessing the risk of pressure
sore. The nurses in a 93,6% didn’t use scales to measure this
risk. The assessment of risk doesn’t make significant effect
in the care planning to prevent pressure sore in the old.
