Application of the nursing care meted to an old person from Virginia Henderson’s model

SUMMARY

  The aim of this article is to inform about the practical application of Virginia Henderson's model as one of the most known and developed one in the professional nursing scene, showing in this way the use of the nursing care method in the practical treatment.

  The recipient of this care is a 82 years old diabetic person, who has just been admitted to Hospital with a diabetic ketonecidosis. We have used Virginia Henderson's model concepts which have been so well clarified by professors: Mrs. María Teresa Luis Rodrigo, Mrs. Carmen Fernández Ferrín and Mrs. María Victoria Navarro Gómez in their book: "From Theory to Practice. Virginia Henderson's Thoughtinthe 21st century" (Masson 1998).
