Elements that modify fragile elder’s valuaction

SUMMARY

Introduction: In a progressive way in the aged population the elders with problems increase. Between these stands out the figure of the fragile elder.

Methods: ENFISPO and Medline data base search. Between 1990- 2000.

Objective: Definitions and development terms: fragile elder and frailty characteristics, exhaustive geriatric assessmet and elements that can alter the geriatric assessment.

Exposition: This fragile patient have a few determinant characteristics that make be the aim of a specific strategy and interdiscipline: the geriatric exhaustive valuation. One of the indispensable tools for the performance and the development of care in the major fragile persons. But regardless there exist a series of elements that can alter this valuation and influence the planning of the care.

Conclusions: In the elements that more influence the valuation and planning of taken care emphasize: comorbility, polypharmacology, chronic disease, functional disability, atypical presentation of disease and of geriatric syndromes.
