We were interested in knowing the needs regarding sexuality of institutionalized elderly.
We applied open-question interviews to people elder than 60 of both sexes living in a series residences of Álava, northern Spain.
Among the conclusions, it’s noteworthy that their sexual experience goes through two phases anchored in the religion, the first relates to procreation and the second, as they are older, focuses rather in affection, tranquility and overalls to not being alone.
For most of them, to live in residence conditions their intimacy, due to the lack of individual rooms.
